2017 Request for Proposals

The institute encourages proposals that may involve one or more of the university’s three land grant university missions (discovery, learning, and engagement). Competitive proposals are those that directly align with the mission of ICAT as well as the mission(s) of one or more of the studios. We encourage proposals that outline initiatives that involve creative practices and are interdisciplinary and critically focused toward development and/or advancement of a research agenda in:

  • preparation of K-12 and university students to work and succeed in a world where the individual disciplines of STEM must collaborate and where working as part of a team with diverse skills is mandatory,
  • promotion of new trans-disciplinary research domains that transcend institutionalized boundaries between science, engineering, art, and design and are needed to fuel future innovation within local, state, and national industrial partners,
  • participation from people of all ages in the process of co-creation where new ideas can come from anywhere - most often from those with a lifetime of personal experience:

Research Areas:

Proposals must be transdisciplinary in nature and explore some aspect of technology and at least two of the following areas represented by the Institute and its studios:

  • design
  • architecture
  • behavioral sciences
  • education
  • engineering
  • computer science
  • human sciences
  • humanities
  • social sciences
  • visual arts
  • performing arts
